AQI – The Challenge
India continues to grapple with a severe air pollution crisis, placing it among the most polluted countries in the world. In 2024, the country ranked fifth out of 138 nations in terms of air quality, with an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 138. The average concentration of PM2.5—fine particulate matter harmful to human health—was recorded at 50.56 µg/m³, exceeding the World Health Organization’s recommended annual limit by more than ten times. These levels of pollution are not just numbers; they translate into serious health consequences for millions of people.
Alarmingly, 92 of the world’s 100 most polluted cities are in India, highlighting the widespread nature of the problem. Among them, New Delhi remains one of the worst-affected, regularly experiencing hazardous AQI levels, especially during winter months, when readings can soar above 400. Such toxic air quality contributes to rising cases of asthma, lung disease, cardiovascular problems, and premature deaths. The situation often compels authorities to implement drastic emergency responses, including shutting down schools, restricting vehicle movement, and halting construction activities.
This ongoing crisis underscores the urgent need for sustainable solutions, improved monitoring, and strict enforcement of environmental regulations to protect public health and ensure a liveable future.

HOW AIRSTERIL TECHNOLOGY WORKS
The VayuOne is an advanced, integrated ambient air pollution management system designed to effectively tackle the growing threat of air contamination in urban and industrial environments. At its core, the device features a highly efficient cyclone dust collector, which utilises centrifugal force to remove larger particulate matter (PM) from the ambient air. This is followed by a secondary filtration process, in which air passes through an activated carbon filter positioned at the outlet. This dual-stage mechanism not only captures fine PM2.5 and PM10 particles but also significantly reduces the presence of harmful gaseous pollutants such as carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur oxides (SOx), and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
LIVVAir’s innovative technology is the result of continuous research, development, and refinement, driven by the urgent need to combat the growing impact of greenhouse gases (GHGs) and the deterioration of both indoor and outdoor air quality. In response to these challenges, LIVVAir remains committed to advancing its air purification solutions to meet evolving environmental demands. The VayuOne system is at the forefront of this innovation, designed to purify ambient air efficiently and reliably.

HOW OUR MULTIPURPOSE SYSTEM WORKS
From a technical standpoint, the combination of cyclone separation and activated carbon filtration offers a superior alternative to traditional air purification technologies such as HEPA filters, electrostatic precipitators, and water scrubbers. While HEPA filters are effective, they require frequent maintenance and replacement. Electrostatic systems, on the other hand, are energy-intensive and sensitive to humidity, while water scrubbers consume large volumes of water. In contrast, the VayuOne operates at a lower cost, requires minimal maintenance, and performs consistently across varied environmental conditions. This makes it an ideal, scalable solution for real-time, outdoor air quality improvement in polluted urban areas.

OPERATION AND SAFETY
The VayuOne is engineered with a sealed, airtight design to maintain optimal performance and prevent contamination or loss of efficiency. To ensure the system operates at peak effectiveness, it requires regular maintenance. The unit should be cleaned at least once a month, depending on the severity of air pollution in its location. The waste collection bin must also be replaced monthly to prevent overflow or clogging. Additionally, the activated charcoal filter, which plays a crucial role in removing harmful gases and odors, should be replaced every month. These routine maintenance steps are essential to guarantee the consistent performance and long-term durability of the VayuOne unit in both indoor and outdoor environments.
HOW OUR SYSTEMS WORK
The advanced technology of the AIRsteril Thermal U/V unit allows the control of bacteria, viruses and moulds both in the air and on surfaces more efficiently than ever before. All of this is achieved without fans and with very low energy consumption. The custom designed thermal convection system ensures that contaminated air processed through the unit achieves optimum dwell time in the purifying chamber. As the processed air leaves the unit, it then itself becomes an efficient cleaning agent, targeting pathogens both in the air and on surfaces.

SERVICING AND MAINTENANCE
The VayuOne unit requires regular cleaning to maintain optimal performance, especially considering varying ambient air quality across different locations. It is recommended that each unit be serviced at least once a month, though more frequent maintenance may be necessary in areas with higher pollution levels.
Before any servicing is performed, the power supply to the unit must be completely disconnected. Maintenance should only be carried out by trained and qualified personnel. All LIVVAir partners are equipped with fully trained engineers who are certified to conduct servicing in a safe and efficient manner.
The VayuOne is designed to be easily accessible for technical staff. During each service, any accumulated dust or debris is carefully cleaned out. The charcoal filter is replaced to ensure continued purification efficiency, and the collection bin is methodically removed and substituted with a fresh one. This process is carried out following a strict scientific and environmental protocol.
Once removed, the collected waste is securely packed and sealed in accordance with LIVVAir’s environmental standards. It is then transported back to our designated biochar unit for safe disposal and conversion into environmentally beneficial by-products, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and clean air solutions.
