What makes LIVVAir’s AIRsteril® Work?
How does it fight and eliminate Allergens and Pollutants?
At the core, all AIRsteril® devices use customised Photo Catalytic Oxidation Technology. Photocatalytic Oxidation (PCO) is achieved within the treatment chamber of every AIRsteril® unit when specialised UV light rays are exposed to our Titanium Oxide (TiO2) catalyst plates.
This process creates Hydroxyl Radicals (OH) and super-oxide ions which are highly reactive and quickly oxidise (or destroy) multiple pollutants in the air including Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). VOC’s include harmful pollutants such as formaldehyde, ammonia, benzene or toluene and many other common contaminates.
As air moves through the treatment chamber it is negatively charged by the process, so air leaving an AIRsteril® unit acts like a glue to other particles which are positively charged, causing them to stick together and fall from the air thereby also reducing PM2.5
There is no need for air to pass through the unit for allergens to be removed from the air. Particles as small as 0.001 microns are eliminated (many HEPA filters only remove down to 0.3 microns) and so are various allergens including pollens, pet dander, dust mite allergen, moulds alongside the wide range of Volatile Organic Compounds.
With AIRsteril® technology that destroys pollutants which pass through the unit and alongside removes allergens throughout the room, one can easily notice the difference in the air quality. Many potential allergy triggers are also efficiently removed from the air – 24 hours a day.
